Biking

With over 70 miles of natural and paved trails, Mackinac Island is great for biking. Explore the interior or the island’s eight-mile perimeter on picturesque (and paved) Lake Shore Boulevard (M-185) — the only interstate in the nation that does not allow personal motor vehicles.

Highlights along the way include Arch Rock, British Landing, Brown’s Brook, Devil’s Kitchen, and fantastic views of the Straits of Mackinac and Mackinac Bridge. Use the Mackinac roads and trails map to guide you, or visit the Concierge Desk for ideas and to customize your biking adventure.

Biking around the island is relatively flat, and generally takes 1-1½ hours. Refreshments and restrooms are available at the halfway point. Special Grand Hotel box luncheons are available and can be enjoyed at any of the picnic spots throughout the Island. Call 906-847-3331 for more information.

Mackinac Island Bike Rental Prices

Bicycles are available for rent at the Woodlands Activity Center during the season starting at 9:00 AM. There is a two-hour minimum rental on all bicycles. All prices are per bike or Burley. Please note: All bikes must be returned by 5:00 PM.

Bring Your Bike to Mackinac Island

We welcome you to bring your own bicycles to Mackinac Island. Guest bike parking is located across the street from the hotel, behind the Grand Hotel Pro Shop. Please bring your own bike lock.

At this time, electric bicycles are prohibited within a city that prohibits the use of non-emergency motor vehicles. However, the use of electric bicycles is allowed by individuals with a qualifying condition, in compliance with the American with Disabilities Act. For more information, visit the City of Mackinac Island website.
