Detroit-Style Pizza on Mackinac Island Offers a Slice of History
Mackinac Island Pizza Company brings a taste of Motown to the Island, honoring the rich tradition of Detroit-style pizza. Inspired by Gus Guerra, the father of Detroit-style pizza, the pizzeria serves up classic pan pies made with house-proofed Sicilian dough, topped with cheese, tomato sauce, and a variety of toppings.
Baked fresh daily in iconic deep-dish square pans, originally designed in Detroit in the 1940s, each pizza offers a perfectly crispy, light crust and signature caramelized cheese edges that define Detroit-style pizza. These unique pans, rooted in Michigan’s industrial history, are key to creating that delicious golden crunch.
While Mackinac Island is known for its lack of cars, it’s home to a slice of Detroit history, offering locals and visitors alike the unique flavors of the Motor City, right here on the island.
