This Mackinac Island itinerary and Grand Hotel schedule suggestions is like a “greatest hits” package of the many experiences to enjoy during your stay with us.
Morning
Start your day with breakfast in Grand Hotel’s Main Dining Room. Choose from a menu of options including eggs, omelettes, cereals, and breakfast entrées. Or enjoy the breakfast buffet featuring a selection of juices, fruits, pastries, and entrées.
After fueling up at breakfast, rent bicycles from Grand Hotel’s Pool House and go for a morning ride around the Island. Take in the sights along Lake Shore Boulevard (M-185) — the only interstate in the nation that does not allow personal motor vehicles. Highlights along the way include Arch Rock, British Landing, Brown’s Brook, and Devil’s Kitchen.
There’s nothing more relaxing after an 8-mile bike ride than settling into one of the rocking chairs on Grand Hotel’s 660-foot-long front porch. Take in the spectacular views of the Straits of Mackinac and Mackinac Bridge as you unwind from your morning excursion.
Afternoon
Head inside to the Main Dining Room for our one-of-a-kind Grand Luncheon Buffet. It features an array of garden-fresh salads, savory cheeses, slow-roasted meats, seafood, and a wide variety of fruits and fresh-baked desserts made daily.
After lunch, head down to the Tea Garden for an afternoon of fun in the sun. Grand Hotel’s lawn is the perfect location for a game of croquet or bocci. Or cool off with a swim in the Esther Williams Swimming Pool, followed by a mid-day snack or drink from the Pool Grill.
After an afternoon outside in the Tea Garden, head into the parlor for Afternoon Tea. This timeless tradition is a quintessential part of the Grand Hotel Experience. Enjoy tea, sherry, champagne or brandy with petite finger sandwiches and pastries, accompanied by a live music recital.
Evening
Every evening at Grand Hotel is a special occasion. Pull out your favorite dress or suit jacket and tie, stroll along the world’s longest porch, and take a photograph to remember your trip. Then, head inside to the Main Dining Room for a spectacular dinner that includes an appetizer, soup, salad, entrée, and dessert.
After dinner, walk down the hall to the Terrace Room and enjoy dancing and live music from the Grand Hotel Orchestra and an after-dinner cocktail. Or grab a nightcap at the Cupola Bar, located at the top of the hotel. The view of the Mackinac Bridge at night is a sight you won’t soon forget.
